					Juliana Rocha receives homage in AMCHAM/PE

Juliana Oliveira de Lima Rocha (JOL), partner of Trigueiro Fontes Advogados and responsible for the unit of Recife, received homage of the American Chamber of Commerce – AMCHAM/PE, for the work done this year as President of the Executive Committee of Legislation.

					Three new partners were elected this year in Trigueiro Fontes Advogados.

Due to a significant increase of the Firm and to the purpose of attending their clients the best way as possible, the partner’s assembly decided to promote three integrants to partners of the Firm. They were: Viviane Moreno Lopes (tax law thematic copyholder), Fernanda Almeida Gonçalves (coordinator of the work cell FOR 01) and Daniela Rondineli (corporate law and real estate law thematic copyholder). The choice comes from the electoral process already consecrated on the Firm, on which the partners debate to exhaustion which are the best names to integrate the partnership and vote secretly according to hierarchy and antiquity. The attached photos say a bit of this moment of great importance to the Firm.

					Annual shareholders meeting TF 2009 in São Paulo.

The partners of TRIGUEIRO FONTES gathered for their annual meeting. First, at the regional unit of São Paulo, new members of the Firm were elected to join the partnership. Then, all of them headed to a hotel outside the city, where they spent three days discussing the action of 2009 and planning the upcoming year, with decisions that included the approval of the budget and the marketing plan, the opening of a regional unit in Manaus/AM, confirmed for the first semester of 2010, and finally, the election of the new member of the Executive Comitee.

					Trigueiro Fontes Advogados in ADIT Northeast in Salvador / BA

Victoria Fainstein (VIC), Henrique de Oliveira (HSO) and Karla Machado (KPM), members of the regional unit of Salvador/BA, took part at the series of events related to the “V reunion of ADIT Northeast Brazil” – An association for the development of the Real Estate and Tourism sectors at the northeast of Brazil. The challenges regarding a sustainable development were the main theme at the event. Henrique de Oliveira, one of the panelists of the “II Forum of specialized lawyers in Real Estate and Tourism markets” has presented some cases of this firm in which the obstacles for the acquisition of properties were surpassed.

					Power future 2009, Fortaleza/CE

Karyna Saraiva Leão Gaya (KSL), Fernanda Cabral (NAN) and Manoel Duarte (MDP), who are members of the regional unit of Fortaleza/CE, were at the “Power future 2009” event in that city. This fourth edition set out debates about the Brazilian potential in the alternative and renewable resources field. Investors, air turbine producers, governmental institutions, environmental agencies, law offices and other professionals were in a great number at this event. Karyna Saraiva and Manoel Duarte were also at the business round organized for this meeting.

					Seminar on International Commercial Arbitration

Luiz Ricardo Giffoni and Fábio de Possidio Egashira, partners of TRIGUEIRO FONTES Advogados, attended a seminar on “Perspectives of International Comercial Arbitration in Brazil and Chile”. The event took place at the Maksoud Plaza Hotel, in São Paulo. Luiz Giffoni is responsible for the Contract Department in this firm, while Fábio Egashira is in charge of Arbitration issues.

					Legal Guide for the Foreign Investor in Pernambuco

The “Legal Guide for the Foreign Investor in Pernambuco” is about to be published. The text was written by the “Lawyer´s Society Studies Center” in the state of Pernambuco with the support of its government. TRIGUEIRO FONTES Advogados took a great part in the elaboration process since some of the Guide´s chapters were written or revised by its own lawyers. It is always good to remember that the highest levels of economic growth in Brazil belong to the northeast part of this country, which top position is currently held by the state of Pernambuco. Vanessa Arruda Ferreira (VAN), member of the Regional Unit of Recife, doctorate student of International Tax Law at Sorbonne, had her article ‘‘Credit of Fictional Tax: from a nebulous notion to an uncertain juridical regime’’ published in the Review of International Tax Law number 11. The essay, written in co-authorship with Anapaula Trindade Marinho, is a profound study of the ‘matching credit’ and ‘tax sparing’ clauses used in international treaties to avoid double taxation.

					Belo Horizonte’s Branch is working

The 10th unit of Trigueiro Fontes Advogados was inaugurated in Belo Horizonte on the 4th of May. At the head of the branch is the partner Fábio Henrique Catão de Oliveira (FHC), who will initially leads a team composed of three lawyers and two trainees. Trigueiro Fontes Advogados was set up in 1993 by Roberto Trigueiro Fontes. Today it counts almost on 200 collaborators (being 60 lawyers) and is established in 10 capitals of Brazil: Recife, Fortaleza, Natal, Salvador, Brasilia, Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and now Belo Horizonte.

					Trigueiro Fontes Advogados is going to open a new office in Belo Horizonte!

After 16 years of foundation, Trigueiro Fontes Advogados is about to inaugurate in Belo Horizonte its tenth unit. The head of the branch will be Fábio Catão de Oliveira, who has already moved to the capital of Minas Gerais State. "It's a significant opening, because it confirms what we have already known: we are a national Firm that never stopped believing in the strength and ability of Brazilians from all corners. 					TRIGUEIRO FONTES at World Business Dialogue, in Cologne, Germany

Vanessa Arruda Ferreira (VAN) had her essay selected and was invited to participate the World Business Dialogue congress on the 1st and 2nd April. The meeting happens every two years at the University of Cologne, Germany. This year's topic is "The integrated challenge - Resources, China & Customer Revolution", where sustainability issues are going to be discussed by professionals and students from different countries.
